ELANY Extends its Cybersecurity Awareness Training Compliance Offer

Since 2017, ELANY has fully funded cybersecurity awareness training for active members. The training is intended to help New York-licensed excess line brokers comply with the New York Department of Financial Services (DFS) cybersecurity regulation, as well as provide brokers with a vital “good practices” tool for protecting clients and the brokers’ firms.

New York-licensed firms must provide periodic, but at a minimum annual, cybersecurity awareness training that includes social engineering for all personnel that is updated to reflect risks identified by the covered entity in its risk assessment. ELANY recognizes that training must reflect each firm’s Risk Assessment. Therefore, any firm whose Risk Assessment requires training that is unavailable in our standard offer will be upgraded to a more extensive selection of materials if doing so will allow that firm to fulfill its training obligations under the regulation.

Broker Qualification

Licensed brokers that have filed an insurance policy or endorsement for stamping with ELANY since January 1, 2023 are eligible to have up to 417 employees trained at no cost to the broker.

Training Provider

Training is provided by KnowBe4, www.knowbe4.com, a third-party cybersecurity training provider.  

Training Offer  

• 12-month KnowBe4 Cybersecurity Awareness training subscription for up to 417 employees at your organization
• Online training library on the KnowBe4 platform, allowing trainees to learn at their own pace and revisit modules as needed.
• Ongoing phishing simulations 
• Ability for a broker-designated administrator to select and assign courses for their employees, with compliance reporting and a tracking dashboard
• Dedicated KnowBe4 success manager assigned to the firm to support training setup and answer all questions

Enrollment Process

1. Complete and submit the enrollment form (below) for ELANY’s authorization to KnowBe4.

2. Broker’s Licensee (per enrollment form) will receive emails and/or phone calls from @KnowBe4.com.  Please ensure the contact below can receive emails from the @KnowBe4.com domain. 

3. Broker’s Licensee (per enrollment form) or delegated colleague will work with their dedicated KnowBe4 success manager to setup training for their organization.

4. Broker’s Licensee (per enrollment form) or delegated colleague will receive a renewal reminder from KnowBe4 in 12 months, and Broker will repeat step 1.
